Welcome to Mathwise ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a safe, reliable experience inside the app.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Mathwise mobile application. By using Mathwise, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information needed to provide Mathwise, personalize the learning experience, operate interactive tutoring features, maintain account security, and improve reliability.

A. Account and Profile Information

• Phone Number: We collect a mobile phone number to create and secure the account, send One-Time Passwords (OTPs), and support account recovery and deletion.
• Profile Information: We may collect information you provide, such as the learner's name, grade, school, curriculum or board, preferred language, learning preferences, and preferred class time.

B. Learning, Tutor, and Feedback Information

• Learning Progress: Lessons viewed or completed, answers, scores, accuracy, attempts, time spent, help requested, and other learning activity.
• Tutor Conversations: When the voice or text tutor is used, we process and may store the learner's questions, speech transcripts, tutor responses, session context, and technical information needed to provide and improve tutoring.
• Voice Audio: When microphone access is enabled, voice audio is transmitted securely to speech-processing providers so that it can be transcribed and answered. When diagnostic archival is enabled, Mathwise may also store a private copy for up to 30 days to diagnose errors and improve tutor quality. Mathwise does not use voice audio for advertising.
• Feedback and Uploaded Content: If you submit feedback or report a problem, we collect the information you provide, which may include written comments and images selected from your device or captured using its camera.

C. Device, Analytics, and Diagnostic Information

• Device and Network Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, language, IP address, network information, and identifiers made available by your device or platform.
• Product Usage Data: Analytics events about feature usage and screen interactions used to improve app quality, learning flows, and performance.
• Diagnostics and Crash Data: Crash reports, stack traces, app state, and technical diagnostic information used to identify and resolve problems.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Authentication: To verify your identity and allow secure login.
• Learning Services: To provide lessons, practice, progress tracking, personalized recommendations, and tutoring assistance.
• Voice and AI Tutoring: To transcribe spoken questions, understand the learner's request, generate an educational response, and convert tutor responses into speech.
• Progress Syncing: To preserve learning history when Mathwise is used on another device.
• Support: To respond to feedback, investigate reported problems, and provide customer support.
• Safety and Reliability: To prevent misuse, diagnose errors, monitor performance, and improve the quality of Mathwise.

We do not use a learner's voice audio, tutor conversations, uploaded images, or learning activity for third-party advertising.

4. Children's Privacy

Mathwise is an educational service that may be used by children under the supervision of a parent, guardian, school, or other authorized adult. We collect only the information reasonably needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the learning service.

• We expect account registration to be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
• We do not sell children's personal information.
• We do not use children's voice audio, tutor conversations, uploaded content, or learning activity for targeted advertising.
• Parents or guardians may request access to or deletion of information associated with the learner's account.

5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. Information is encrypted in transit using technologies such as HTTPS, TLS, and secure WebSocket connections. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel and service providers that require access to operate Mathwise.

Account information, learning progress, tutor transcripts, and related session records may be retained while the account remains active so that we can provide learning history, continuity, support, safety, and service improvement.

Voice audio is transmitted to speech-processing providers to generate a transcript. When diagnostic archival is enabled, raw voice audio may be stored in dedicated private object storage for up to 30 days. Access is restricted to authorized personnel, and the audio is scheduled for automatic deletion after the retention period. Speech and AI service providers may also temporarily process or retain data according to their applicable service terms and our agreements with them.

Feedback submissions and attached images are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate the reported issue and maintain support records. Diagnostic and security records may be retained for a limited period necessary for reliability, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

6. Service Providers and Sharing of Information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We disclose information to service providers only when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve Mathwise.

• Authentication and Communication Providers: Used to deliver OTPs and support secure account access.
• Speech-Processing Providers: Providers such as Sarvam AI or Groq may process voice audio to produce speech transcripts, depending on the active service configuration.
• AI and Cloud Providers: Google Cloud and Google Vertex AI or Gemini may process tutor transcripts, relevant conversation context, and educational content to generate and speak tutor responses.
• Hosting and Storage Providers: Used to host Mathwise, store application data, deliver content, and maintain backups.
• Analytics and Diagnostics Providers: Providers such as Firebase, PostHog, and Meta may process device, usage, attribution, or diagnostic information according to the features enabled in the app.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a corporate transaction with appropriate notice and safeguards.

7. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you or request the deletion of your account.

To request data deletion, go to Settings > Delete Account inside the app, or email [email protected] with your registered phone number. We disable the account and remove its direct login identifiers. Tutor conversations, related voice-session records, voice-feedback usage, and any archived raw voice audio associated with the deleted account are retained for 30 days and then scheduled for automatic deletion. Limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or resolving disputes.
